Nashville Opera Announces 2022-2023 Season

La Boheme

The Nashville Opera will open up their season with a cornerstone of Italian opera, La Boheme. This will also be the Nashville Opera debut for soprano Michelle Johnson, Flora Hawk, and Hidenori Inoue. In this opera composed by Italian opera great Giacomo Puccini, a group of poor artists (Bohemians) navigate their way through friendship, love, heartbreak, and sickness. The Medium

The second opera that will be performed at the Nashville Opera for the 2022 season is The Medium, a relatively short opera written and composed by Gian Carlo Menotti. The medium follows an interaction with the paranormal, and ends in a chaotic murder. The performance will feature the Nashville Opera debut for Alissa Anderson, Dee Donosco, and Ryan Bede.

Stuck Elevator

Stuck Elevator will be the first opera performed at the Nashville Opera in 2023. Stuck Elevator, written by Byron Au Yong will celebrate its 10th year debut anniversary. Based on a true story, Stuck Elevator follows a Chinese immigrant living in New York City who’s lived through tough times. On his way to deliver Chinese food, he gets stuck in an elevator for 81 hours and brings the audience through comical, thought-provoking, and touching scenes. Julius Ahn will make his Nashville Opera mainstage debut as the main role, Guang.

The Pirates of Penzance

The final opera that will be performed in the 2022-23 season is Arthur Sullivan and W. S. Gilbert’s Pirates of Penzance. It follows the comical story of a pirate gang off the coast of Cornwall.

La Boheme will be held at Jackson Hall at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center

The Medium and Stuck Elevator will be held at The Noah Liff Opera Center, 3622 Redmon St, Nashville, TN 37209.

The Pirates of Penzance will be held at the James K Polk Theater at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, 505 Deaderick St, Nashville, TN 37243
